Don’t use a mouthwash after brushing, it’s just not worth it!
If you’re using a fluoride mouthwash, use it at a different time to brushing. This then gives your teeth extra protection in the day. We advise children who are wearing braces to have their mouthrinse when they come in from school.
If you’re using a Chlorhexidine mouthwash to help combat periodontal disease or after surgery, the detergent in most toothpastes inactivates the Chlorhexine, so use the mouthwash half an hour after brushing.
If we’ve suggested you dip your interdental brushes in Chlorhexidine, we sell a gel which works really well.
